I live an hour drive from Karriker Customs, and there are closer spots I could go to, but without a doubt I have never regretted making the trip to leave my guitars with Mike. From fully customizing pickup systems, to intricate fret work, I've been so happy with his work. His rates are almost too fair and he guarantees his work. Five stars for this awesome luthier.

Karriker Customs has done impeccable work on my Taylor's, and I trust him with my most precious instruments. We play out all of the time and it would not be possible without Michael's help! We're lucky to have a skilled luthier like him in our universe.

The Stormcasters
I had a 1973 Fender Stratocaster that was in dire need of a refret. The frets were worn flat to the point where they were practically just proud of the lacquer on the maple fretboard. I initially was concerned with getting a refret, because I was worried about it affecting the vintage value of the instrument. Michael assured me that an unplayable vintage guitar will see more devaluation compared to one that has had professional refret work. That made plenty of sense to me! I decided to trust him with my baby, and I could not have made a better decision. When it was completed, and I came by to pick it up, the work was better than I was even expecting it to be. The new frets were gleaming, and the new lacquer blended beautifully with the original factory work. If I didn't know any better, I would have guessed that Michael had time travelled and brought me back my neck straight from the Fender factory line! I could not have been more pleased with his work. This old girl hasn't played this well in many years. If you have a vintage instrument that is in need of fret work. Let me assure you, Michael is the right guy to take care of your old friend.
Over the years there are very few friends that I have kept close. Bob is to this day one of my most treasured friends. Bob is my guitar. I got Bob 20 years ago from a friend that was leaving to serve our country. He loved Bob even more than I ever could. However he could not take Bob with him on his new adventure. Before he left he asked if I wanted to buy Bob off him. So fifty dollars later I took Bob home. I by no means play well. Bob had always been a part of our family. He was there when times got tough and when my daughter was born and I played Creed "Lullaby" for her (don't judge). As years passed and Bob was put into storage, like most things, he began to get out of shape. He swelled and bowed. Even though Bob was not worth much, he meant a lot to me. I took him to Karriker Customs for Mike to take a look. I placed Bob on the table and Mike let out a laugh. "Hmmmmmm, Bob" (there is a Bob sticker on the outside of the case). Mike opened the case and took Bob out. "He looks a little rough, but we can fix him"
Bob spent a few weeks in the shop with Mike. I got the call to pick him up, and Mike was ready for me with Bob in hand. He was all tuned and the swelling and bow had been repaired to perfection. Bob looked like the day I first got him. I can't thank Karriker Customs enough. Bob now has been passed down to my daughter, and she plays just as bad as her father. Thanks again to Karriker customs.
